Summer  Artists-in-Residence Application

Each summer we host a traditional musician in Columbia, Missouri to share authentic traditional Irish with our community through teaching and performance.  We provide a stipend, lodging with a host family, travel expenses and a very memorable summer experience in a culturally rich community with terrific, welcoming people.  This is an idea opportunity for a third or fourth year college student in traditional music education and performance, seeking some practical teaching and performance experience and a summer abroad.

What instruments do you play, and for how long? Include all instruments that you are proficient enough with to teach absolute beginners:

Do you do any traditional dancing well enough to either teach or assist with teaching a class? Step, set, ceili or sean nos? If so, tell us a bit about your background - how many years of study, have you taught dance?

Do you have any experience teaching beginning Irish language? Would you feel comfortable teaching it?
