Northern-Irish singer, songwriter and peace activist Tommy Sands will be in Columbia for two days of teaching and performing. Accompanyng him on tour are his grown childen Moya (who plays fidedle, whistle and bodhran) and Fionan (who plays mandolin and banjo).
Wed. February 18 at 7 pm Tommy will give a seminar in the MU Recital Hall, sponored by the MU School of Music, the MU Center for Arts and Humanities, Central MO Celtic Arts and several individual donors.
This will be free and open to the public as well as the MU community. Tommy will share stories and wisdom gathered from a lifetime of making peace through music at home in the North of Ireland, and on his journeys around the world.

$15 admission at the door or in advance by online purchase. (I'll set that up on our web site this weekend)
Kids 12 and under attend free; $8 ages 12 - 18.
I'll be taking some student tickets to high school music and social studies teachers to distribute.
Additionally, Tommy, Moya and Fionan will also do a workshop and performance at Lee Expressive Arts Elementary School on Wed. Feb. 18 during the day, sponsored in part by CMCAA.

Lord of the Dance at Jesse Hall
The sequel to Riverdance, this show is a showcase of Celtic music, Irish step dancing and glitter. You may have seen it on PBS or a DVD, but there's nothing quite like being in the room with all those hard shoes beating in rhythm to reels and jigs!
