Brian will perform a concert of traditional songs and tunes (concertina and

among his summer proteges. (No surprise call outs -- do not fear, dear
students!)
This will be followed by a reception and social hour. Please bring goodies or other finger foods to share, if convenient. Beverages will be provided.
For those who are not familiar with our summer artist-in-residence, Brian Hart is an extraordinarily gifted teacher who happens to also be an extraordinarily gifted singer, musician and yes... dancer, too. He's been generously sharing his time and talents with us this summer and it's been GREAT for folks taking classes.
He hasn't played any concert-y events at all this summer, so I really wanted to make an opportunity for him to "do his thing" for the larger community of music enthusiasts before he goes. I hope you can join us.
After leaving us, Brian is moving to Chicago to teach and play music full time.
In early July the Missourian published this article, "Celtic Summer," about
Brian.

Each year this amazing festival of folk music and culture features one U.S.
state and one country -- this year they featured Virginia and Northern Ireland.
Over 100 musicians, artists and crafts people came for the festival from the
Northern counties. At this link you can watch a free streaming video of a
concert featuring some of the finest musicians and singers from the North:
Robert Watt, (Highland pipes), Patricia Flynn (singer), Mark Wilson and Lee
Lawson (snare drumming in the pipe band tradition) (their snare drumming dual is
terrific!), Len Graham (singer and storyteller second-to-none) and Jack Lynch
and the band 4 Men and Dog (they defy description and categorization, really).
Irish Music Magazine, the only publication dedicated solely to news
about Irish (and Scottish) folk music, is published in Ireland and has been
largely unavailable in the U.S except by subscription, which is quite expensive
due to airmail postage. Now you can subscribe online to receive the entire
magazine as a PDF file each month for about $40/year.
