A little about Liz and John...

Separately, they are geniuses of their instruments exciting performers and composers who take the tradition of Irish music in daring, inventive, new directions. Together, Liz Carroll & John Doyle have combined their talents into dynamic live stage shows and recordings including their first as a duet, which is scheduled for release in 2005 on Compass Records.

One of the masters of traditional Irish music living in America today, Chicago-born Liz Carroll has been amazing audiences with her fiddle ever since she won the Senior All-Ireland Championship at the age of 18. An award-winning recording artist known for her fiery performances full of inventiveness and intense emotion, Liz was awarded a Heritage Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts for her ongoing influence on Irish music in the US.

John Doyle is among the most talented and innovative musicians to come out of Ireland in recent years. An extraordinary acoustic guitarist as well as an accomplished singer and songwriter, John can be heard accompanying many top Irish artists and has performed on such film and TV soundtracks as The Brothers McMullen and Out of Ireland. An original member of the acclaimed group Solas, John’s turns as a record producer have created critically successful CD’s by Heidi Talbot (Cherish the Ladies), Liz Carroll, and his father, Sean Doyle. John’s second solo recording is scheduled for release in 2005 on Compass Records.

Cherish the Ladies, March 10

Lincoln University "Share in the Arts" concert series presents Cherish the Ladies on Friday, March 10.
For tickets and details:  http://w3.lincolnu.edu/~sita/

Cherish the Ladies has been among the principle traditional Irish bands to introduce the world to Irish music-dance and goodwill. Founded in 1983 by Mick Moloney and Joanie Madden, their 1985 recording "The Back Door" was selected by the Library of Congress as "Best Folk Album of the Year." They have shared the stage with many notable performers such as Emmylou Harris, James Taylor, Joan Baez and the Clancy Brothers. The New York Times hailed their music as "passionate, tender and rambunctious. They expand the annals of Irish music in America." The musicians will be joined on stage by traditional Irish dancers.

Titanic Museum Opening in Branson

Construction is underway on the world's largest Titanic museum in Branson MO.  The 1/2 scale museum attraction will duplicate 20 rooms from the Titanic and welcome visitors through an iceburg for the 90-minute walk-through tour.

You can preview the museum at the web site: www.Titanicbranson.com

The owners recognize what an important role the Irish played in the building of the Titanic and plan to have Irish music events at the museum.

They will open in March and have a grand opening event on April 7.
