Irish music session this evening at Kayotea until 9 p.m.
The Thursday night Irish traditional music jam session group will be playing music at Kayotea this evening, starting around 6:30ish and going until closing time at 9 pm. There is no charge.
Kayotea is located in downtown Columbia on Broadway between Ninth and Tenth Streets, directly across from KOPN. They offer dozens of varieties of hot tea, plus hot chocolate, coffee, great sandwiches and other fare.

7:00 - beginners lesson, 7:30 dances begin
Location: First Christian Church, corner of Tenth and Walnut Streets (enter

All dances are taught and called. You do not need any experience or a partner to join in.

Irish music at First Night Columbia, New Years Eve
Fiddler Tim Langen, guitarist Jesse Langen and Uillean piper Tim Britton will perform Irish music at First Night Columbia this year. They will be playing for an Irish ceili dance at 6:30 p.m. at the Stephens College ballroom, and they will have a performance set at Windsor Auditorium (also on Stephens campus) at 9:30 p.m.
Christine Harker will be calling the Irish ceili, and meanwhile, our other dance caller, Kat Difoxfire, will be calling for the children's contra dance at First Baptist Church, with musicians Paul and Win Grace.

Step dancing classes in January
The winter session of step dance classes for children and adults will
start in January. Taught by Marian Sharp.
6-week session from January 9 to February 13. Classes meet on Tuesday
evenings as follows:
5:30 - 6:15 p.m. kids ages 5 - 10*
6:15 - 7:00 p.m. kids ages 11 & up*
7:00 - 8:00 p.m. adult step dance
*Marian may want to shift students between classes based on experience and ability rather than age after the first class.
Fee is $45 for the session.
Classes will meet at Unity Center of Columbia, 1600 West Broadway

Celtic-themed book club news
In December the book club is discussing The Hound of the Baskervilles
by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
The book club will meet at Cherry Street Artisan at 6 pm on December 18 instead
of our regular meeting time because the last Monday of December is Christmas
Day.

We had Tom here for a house concert in 2003 and I've been getting requests to have him back again ever since. This will be a great way to celebrate St. Pat's a little early!
