TEADA in concert this SUNDAY, MAY 22, 7:00 pm
Tickets at the door only. This band has covered a lot of miles and evoled musically in the two years since they played in Columbia on their first major US tour. They added accordion player Paul Finn to the lineup last year, and recently they replaced flutist John Blake, with Damien Stenson, also an accomplished flute / whistle player. Their current album, "Give Us A Penny and Let Us Be Gone" was nominated for 2004 album of the year award by Irish music magazine. Also in contention was Planxty's live reunion concert recording, and The David Munnelly Band's first album. (Incidentally, I've booked the David Munnelly Band to appear in Columbia on September 14.)
Teada is a very traditionally-focused band with plenty of youthful vigor and creativity to make the music lively and fun without selling out to the influences of pop culture. They are one of the few young bands to truely carry the torch for the living tradition of Irish music. The first time I heard their CD, I was impressed enough to book them without having seen them perform, and they just keep getting better all the time! If you saw them the last time they were here, you'll be delighted with the changes; if you didn't see them before, you simply must.

presents Gaelic Storm
Concert at Jesse Auditorium at 7 pm
Free concert at Art in the Park (Stephens College campus) in the afternoon
Gaelic Storm left an impression on audiences worldwide through their
appearance as the ?steerage band? entertaining immigrant third-class passengers
in the James Cameron blockbuster Titanic. The California-based Celtic group puts
on a high-energy show that would fit into a rowdy Irish pub just as well as it
would into a concert hall. Their sound remains true to traditional Celtic music
with a twist of dizzying live energy ? hence the name ?Gaelic Storm.?
