The dances start off easy and get a bit more complicated as the evening goes on.

Summer Arts Program
Weekly Classes start June 7.
Úna ni Fhlannagáin will be teaching Irish folk harp, sean nos singing, sean nos dancing (percussive dance!), tin whistle, fiddle and Irish language from June 7 - August 17.
Irish Arts Week July 26 - 30 -- Kids & Teens workshops all week.

The topic descriptions are all listed on the web site and we'll be adding more
about the week as we get closer!
Katie DeGreef, an alumni of the St. Louis Irish Arts school and a competitive
Irish dancer will be teaching Step dancing during the camp. Katie also plays
tin whistle and will be a junior at MU in the fall.

(Céilí is the Irish spelling and Ceilidh is the Scots spelling for the same word. They both mean a social gathering with music and dancing. Fun!)

SCOTTISH MUSICIANS' WORKSHOP
Cost is $15 per person.
Presented by The Highland Mist Scottish Country Dancers
The instructor is Susie Petrov of Boston, Massachusetts. Susie has been playing Scottish music professionally since 1978. She performs for dances, concerts, and festivals as a soloist and with her band, Local Hero.
Susie has 8 recordings and a book of Scottish dance tunes to her publishing credit. She has taught workshops in the USA, Canada, Europe, and at the Royal Academy of Music in Glasgow.
For the Scottish Musicians' Workshop, ALL INSTRUMENTS WELCOME! Musicians who can play their instruments at speed will get the most out of the class. The class is open to both folk who sight read and folk who learn by ear.

June 26 - 27 The HIGHLAND MIST SCOTTISH COUNTRY DANCE BALL
St. Louis, Missouri
The weekend begins with a Scottish Musicians' Workshop led by Susie Petrov (of Boston, Massachusetts). There will be a pre-Ball banquet at Portofino's Little Place, followed by the Saturday evening ball, with Susie Petrov providing live music. NOTE: all dances at the Ball will be walked-thru and talked-thru. The weekend ends with Sunday brunch and hot-tubbing.
