Scottish Actor Christopher Tait will portray Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns, complete with 18th c. costume and authentic dialect. His performace will be a first person narrative account of Burns' life, and dramatic readings of his work. In addition, Alex and Carrie Sutherland, sCottish musicians residing in St. Louis, will be along to provide traditional music and songs.
Robert Burns (1759-1796) is commemorated around the time of his birthday every year (January 25) by Scots worldwide. The traditional means is with a "Burns Supper" which has a particular itinerary and menu, including Haggis, an infamous traditional Scottish dish.
While not a dinner, We're very excited about this concert as a way to celebrate Scotland's national poet and learn more about his life and work. It promises to be a whole lot of fun and even fairly educational!
Christopher is doing a "tour of Missouri" which includes several Burns Dinners, so if you are interested in attending one, I'll list the ones I know of on the calendar.
