CMCAA Ceili, Friday Nov 14
Beginners walk-through at 7:00; Dancing starts at 7:30 p.m.
First Christian Church fellowship hall, corner of Walnut and Tenth Streets, downtown Columbia
All ages are welcome.
$5 admission for adults, kids 16 & under attend free.Join us for a fun evening of Irish dancing and music!
All dances will be taught and called. You don't need any prior experience or a partner. We will be doing Irish "Ceili" and "set" dances -- group social dances that are similar to American traditional contra and square dances.
Music will be provided by our artist-in-residence Deirdre Harnedy and other local musicians. Dances will be taught and called by Christine Harker.Please wear clean, soft-soled shoes to protect the dance floor.
We'll have refreshments and a selection of music books from the Music Sales catalog for sale during the evening as well as a fund raiser for CMCAA programs.

First Night Columbia, New Years Eve
First Night needs volunteers! If you haven't made plans for New Years Eve yet, please consider being a volunteer at our First Night festival. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, from being stage hands to selling buttons at the venues. Shifts are 2 or 4 hours in length and all volunteers get complimentary admission to all venues for the rest of the evening.
First Night offers a wide variety of entertainment and activities for all ages and interests with many performances and activities for children early in the evening.
Julie Henigan, Irish and American traditional musician, will be performing as well as local group Luck Penny.

Robert Burns LIVE plus Alex Sutherland and his Cronies
Friday, January 23, 8:00 p.m.
Venue TBA (in Columbia)Christopher Tait, Scottish performer, takes us back in time to meet Robert Burns, national poet of Scotland, as he dresses the part to read selections of the bard's poems. Read more: http://www.robertburnslive.co.uk/
Alex Sutherland, Scottish musician residing in St. Louis, returns with his "Cronies" to bring us lively Scottish songs to round out the evening.

Local Folk Debuts
This Saturday, November 15 -- Leela and Ellie Grace CD Release Concert, 7:00 p.m.
Windsor Auditorium (1405 E. Broadway on the Stephen's College campus in Columbia, MO)
$6 for adults, $5 for kids 5-12, free for under 5The long-awaited and much anticipated CD is finally done! Leela and Ellie have been working hard on this, their first recording project as a duo. (without Mom and Dad!) The CD is gorgeous, and well worth celebrating with them at this concert event.
Saturday Nov 22 -- Discovery String Band Premier and CD Release Concert, 8:00 p.m.
While Leela and Ellie have been busy, so have their parents! Paul and Win Grace, Cathy Barton and Dave Para, and Bob Dyer have collectively formed the Discovery String Band (It had to happen eventually!) and have just finished their debut CD called "Most Perfect Harmony"
Lewis and Clark: A Musical Journey. It's an album of period, traditional and original music interpreting the epic journey of Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery.
